It was a very sad news for all Bengali's in Vizag. Karmakar uncle was a retired Navy person, he was a great lover of Music, its he who made sure all Bengali's get together on special occasion and organised musical shows, if not on stage at least at home.
He passed away on the 6th of june 2010. he was suffering from mild cold, which ultimately took his life away.......I remember him saying once "when i will not live on this earth, on my death anniversary organize a musical get together."
He was a very broad minded person, His elder daughter in law is an Oriya girl, and the younger daughter in law is from M.P. He always encouraged Young people to be sportive and fit, ate good food, sang song very well and hosted function very efficiently. He was a person with lot of humor also.
West Vishakha Cultural Association (WVCA) lost a very active and talented member, we all will miss you in this Durga Pooja, uncle.
VIZAG, nick name to Visakhapatnam. People from various states have settle here, because of less crime, beautiful coastal city, good education, and job oppertunity.Benaglis have formed a big community here, and they celebrate every festival that is celebrated in West Bengal.

Bengali new year day in Vizag
15th April was the new year day in the Bengali calender. Bengali's like always are looking for any small reason to get together, and new years day would be a very good reason.
West Vishakha Cultural Association (WVCA), which is established in Shriharipuram, organised a musical nite, we didn't have any popular singer singing, it was just all the Bengali house wives, their children who presented the show. Different poems of Kaviguru Ravindra nath Tagore were read, his composed songs were sang, Tabla specialist from Indian Navy assisted all the singers in Tabla. The function was followed by dinner.
Bengali's here in Vizag are not unaware of what Bengali culture means, we have many music teachers who are working in various institution and they teach music, dance and poetry to carry forward the rich Bengali culture among the growing generation.

ABOUT VISAKHAPATNAM
Rocky beach of VISAKHAPATNAM.Visakhapatnam is a lovely coastal city i have ever been in India, its surrounded by hills on three sides and Bay of Bengal on the Eastern side. It is situated on the Coromandel coast of our country.
Visakhapatnam was earlier known as Waltair, lately it was discovered that here lived a very pretty princess whose name was Visakha, so later this city was renamed to Visakhapatnam, now it has got a nick name VIZAG. Name something and Vizag has it, top ranked educational institutions, Heavy industries like Steel plant, HPCL, BHPV, HZL, Coromandel Fertilizers, Major IT & BPO companies, beautiful tourist spots like Aruku Valley, Kailash Giri, beautifully managed sea beach, hotels ranging from 5 stars to normal ones. Recently Vizag got its first film city, "RAMANAIDU FILM STUDIO" with all kinds of themes.
People of vizag are very much cultured and are great fans of movies, telugu movies run more successfully than Hindi. with more number of companies coming in this city we find different people speaking their mother tongue. Apart from Telugu, Vizagites are very comfortable with Hindi and English. Bengali's find this place very ok to settle down because of the small distance from Howrah, 18 hours of journey by train and 1.30 mins by flight.
